A lighthouse on the Coquille River near Bandon Oregon

The Coquille River Lighthouse is unique in that it is on a river not the shore line. The people of Bandon often refer to it as the Bandon Lighthouse because Bandon is on the ocean front and the lighthouse serviced their bay.  However, it is officially on the river and thus the name. Like most lighthouses it has been decommissioned. GPS has eliminated the need for a lighthouse to let the ships know their position.

I took the reference picture on the way home from a family reunion in Gold Beach, which is to the south of Bandon.
