A close up of the last rose of summer amongst the rose hips

This watercolor painting is done on a museum quality textured Clayboard panel.  The tempered hardboard has been sealed with two coats of acrylic emulsion before the acid free kaolin clay is applied.  The painting is done on the clay with the finest watercolors and then a protective coating of Kamar varnish is applied, eliminating the need for glass. This technique allows for brilliant colors and amazing detail. You will feel like you are up close to these flowers.  This Clayboard has been mounted on a two inch wood cradle and needs no additional framing. It can be hung or stand on a mantle.
