Farm snow scene with birch trees

Painting white trees against a dark background is a fun exercise I enjoy teaching in my technique class. If the technique is mastered the trees almost paint themselves.  I enjoy painting snow scenes. The white of the paper is the snow.  I don’t use white paint as there is no transparent white watercolor and the painted white appears chalky next to the watercolors.
